What is Teen PHP (Day Treatment)?

Teen Partial Hospitalization Programming (PHP), also known as Day Treatment, provides highly structured outpatient care to teens who struggle with addiction and mental health issues. Treatment programming runs 25 hours per week for 3-4 weeks.

In PHP, teens participate in various therapeutic treatments, including group clinical programming and bi-weekly individual and family therapy. Our skilled clinicians use evidence based treatments like CBT, DBT, and ACT to teach teens how to confront their challenges head-on and achieve lasting healing.

PHP offers teens more structure than regular outpatient care, but doesn’t require them to stay in an inpatient or residential setting. It’s an effective solution that allows your teen to get the help they need while still living at home.

Is Teen PHP Right For My Child?

PHP involves 25 hours of focused treatment each week for 3-4 weeks. Our teen day treatment program is best suited for teens who:

  • Are struggling to function at school or at home
  • Need more structure than is provided in outpatient treatment
  • Are not ready for an inpatient residential treatment setting
  • Need additional support after completing inpatient treatment
  • May be at risk of hospitalization

If you aren’t sure which level of care is right for your child, we can help. Your family will have a personal consultation with our adolescent psychiatrist to find the right kind of treatment for your teenager.

FAQs

You Have Questions. We Have Answers.

Our goal is to provide the most helpful information. Please reach out to us if you have any additional questions. We are here to help in any way we can.

Here are a few signs that may indicate your child could benefit from a partial hospitalization program for adolescents:

  1. Intensive Emotional or Behavioral Struggles: If your child is experiencing significant emotional or behavioral challenges that affect their daily life, PHP may offer the structured support they need.
  2. Difficulty Managing Daily Responsibilities: If your child is finding it hard to cope with school, relationships, or daily responsibilities due to their mental health, PHP can provide more thorough interventions than afterschool programs.
  3. Substance Use: If you are concerned about your teen’s substance use alongside their emotional or behavioral challenges, PHP can address both aspects at the same time.
  4. Increased Isolation or Withdrawal: If you’ve noticed your child becoming more withdrawn or isolated, PHP can provide a supportive environment for them to connect with peers and professionals.

In rehab, PHP stands for the Partial Hospitalization Program, which is sometimes known as day treatment. In a partial hospitalization program, adolescent clients can expect a thorough daily schedule of therapy, support groups, and educational support to help teens address their mental health and substance use issues.

The duration of our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) typically lasts between 3 to 4 weeks, but it’s important to note that every person’s journey is unique. The length of the program is tailored to meet the specific needs of your teen.

Once your teen reaches a point where day treatment is no longer necessary but they still require therapy, a smooth transition to our intensive outpatient program is available. This programming takes place after school, and ensures teens continue to receive the necessary therapeutic support while comfortably reintegrating into their daily life.

In our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for teens, your child can expect to benefit from a structured daily schedule with therapeutic activities, counseling, and educational support. Your teen will receive individual and group therapy, medication management, and family therapy. The program emphasizes life skills, peer support, and goal setting to empower your teen on their journey to recovery.

Teen PHP ensures that your teen won’t have to put their life on hold to get the treatment they need. We have a dedicated staff members leading daily academic skill building sessions to ensure that education remains a top priority during treatment. Our also team coordinates with your child’s school to create an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for them, or use a Release of Medical information (ROI) to have assignments sent over.

Our goal is to create a seamless integration between rehabilitation and your teen’s education, allowing them to continue their academic journey under the guidance of a qualified professional.
