Nicole Simonds LAC, MFTC, LPCC

Nicole Simonds is a dedicated Family Therapist at Interlocken, where she brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to helping families navigate complex challenges. Nicole earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Metropolitan State University Denver and furthered her expertise in addiction counseling at Odyssey Training Center. She holds a Master of Arts in Counseling from the University of Colorado Denver, specializing in clinical counseling and couple and family counseling. 

Nicole is certified as a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), Marriage and Family Therapist Candidate (MFTC), and Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC). Her therapeutic approach is eclectic and person-centered, drawing from a rich array of methodologies including Attachment Theory, Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Seeking Safety. This versatile approach allows her to effectively address the unique needs of each family and individual she works with. 

With nine years of experience working with adult and adolescent populations facing poverty, substance use disorders, mental health diagnoses, and legal issues, Nicole is skilled at providing trauma-informed, gender-affirming care, and harm reduction practices through a social justice lens. She is passionate about empowering individuals and their families during their healing and growth processes, finding great fulfillment in making a positive impact in their lives. 

Outside of her professional environment, Nicole enjoys engaging in various activities that enrich her personal and professional life. She is passionate about music, art, and staying active with gym workouts and nature walks. Nicole values the time spent with her spouse, friends, family, and her beloved pets—two cats and a St. Bernard—cherishing the moments that bring joy and relaxation into her busy life. Her dedication to her work and her ability to balance personal interests make Nicole a compassionate and incredible therapist that Sandstone Care is proud to partner with.
