Michael Post steps into his role at Denver OP as the Lead Clinician and PHP Mood Disorder Clinician with a solid foundation in mental health and a deep passion for helping others navigate their journeys. Michael’s educational journey began with an undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Corrections and Policing, followed by a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health from Adams State University. His commitment to excellence is further highlighted by his completion of 60 hours of EMDR training, enhancing his expertise in trauma-informed care.
Certified as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and an EMDR Therapist (EMDR-T), Michael brings a comprehensive approach to therapy. He skillfully utilizes a variety of therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to support his clients’ diverse needs.
Michael has developed a particular expertise in working with adolescents in Residential Treatment Centers (RTC), young adults facing high acuity issues such as suicidality and self-harm, and individuals dealing with trauma. His empathic, kind, engaging, and warm demeanor creates a safe and nurturing environment for clients to explore their challenges and begin the healing process. Michael’s love for his Irish culture adds a unique layer to his identity, enriching the therapeutic relationship with a sense of heritage and warmth.
For Michael, the greatest reward of being a medical/mental health provider is witnessing the transformative changes in his clients. Outside of his professional life, Michael is dedicated to his family—raising his two-year-old, being a supportive husband, and enjoying time with his two dogs. His love for volleyball and basketball offers a refreshing balance to his life, providing him with avenues for relaxation and joy.
