What is Transitional Living?

Transitional Living Center for Young Adult Men

The transitional living program is an integration between our recovery home and PHP or IOP programming. If you are going through treatment and are in need of a more structured living environment, this program is for you.

In supportive housing, you’ll have a balance of structure and accountability, but with the freedom to learn and grow. This program integrates treatment with a safe environment that supports recovery.

Our other extended residential programs in Colorado include another transitional living home for men in Colorado Springs, and a women’s transitional living in Boulder.

Alcohol

The transition between recreational alcohol use and alcohol dependence can be a subtle one. But if you’re finding that you can’t stop drinking when you want to, you may have alcohol dependence.

Marijuana

Similar to alcohol use, smoking or ingesting marijuana has become normalized as a way to relax or take the edge off. When overused, it can make you feel unable to cope with life without using.

Stimulants

A stimulant is any drug that increases your central nervous system activity. Stimulants are used to heighten attention, hyperactivity, and alertness. Abuse of these drugs can lead to a variety of health problems.

Opioids

Opioids are a class of drugs that include synthetic opioids, pain killers, and the illegal drug heroin. These drugs, including prescription medications, are highly addictive.

A Life-Changing Experience at Sandstone Care Ignites New Purpose

“Things progressed where I was at the point that I wanted to die…My life now is very different after going through treatment at Sandstone…The people here, they really care.”

Navigating the maze of addiction treatment options can feel daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. Listen to the heartfelt story of Alex, a real-life testament to the life-changing impact of our programming at Sandstone Care.

Alex is not a statistic or an abstract success story; she’s a person just like you who has struggled with addiction and mental health and has turned her entire life around through treatment at Sandstone.

Our Clients Experience Reduced Levels of Anxiety and Depression

At Sandstone Care, we know disorders like anxiety and depression can have a profound impact on one’s ability to enjoy life. That’s why our treatment programming addresses both addiction and mental health challenges.

In a recent study of people who completed treatment with us, the group reported a 57% decrease in anxiety symptoms. The same group also experienced a 78% decrease in symptoms of depression.

These are life changing numbers for our alumni. And for those experiencing addiction, they can be the difference between relapse and lasting recovery.

Our teen RTCs treat adolescents in a serene setting with smaller group sizes and a focus on strengthening the family unit. The length of stay is 60-90 days. Our young adult RTC offers young adults a peaceful environment in which they can be treated for mental health challenges within 30-45 days. Both RTCs create a distraction-free space for healing, helping clients return to daily life feeling more balanced and well.

No, Transitional Living is not housing for homeless families or people with disabilities.

Transitional Living is short-term housing for people actively in recovery from substance abuse or mental health issues. We are not a non-profit outreach center (think Warren Village in Denver, or the Salvation Army and its ministries). Rather, we are a private recovery center providing health care in the form of addiction and mental health treatment to young adults and adults.

If you or someone you know is experiencing homelessness in the Denver, CO area, please reach out to Denver Rescue Mission, or visit their center on Smith Road.
