Chicagoland Mental Health Clinic For Teens and Young Adults

As an adolescent or young adult, life can be overwhelming, leaving you with crucial decisions and emotions that may make you feel anxious and isolated. If you’re struggling with mental health issues like depression, trauma, or anxiety, these challenges can intensify, making you feel stuck and unable to move forward.

Our focus is on your goals, not just your symptoms. We maintain a low client-to-staff ratio, so you’ll have dedicated attention and personalized treatment plans, not one-size-fits-all lectures.

Through our in-person Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), we offer comprehensive mental health care that will teach you coping skills you can put into practice right away. With Sandstone Care, you can finally focus on the goals that matter most to you.

How We Are Different

Arlington Heights Mental Health Center Reviews

Our Clients Experience Reduced Levels of Anxiety and Depression

At Sandstone Care, we know disorders like anxiety and depression can have a profound impact on one’s ability to enjoy life. That’s why our treatment programming addresses both addiction and mental health challenges.

In a recent study of people who completed treatment with us, the group reported a 57% decrease in anxiety symptoms. The same group also experienced a 78% decrease in symptoms of depression.

These are life changing numbers for our alumni and their loved ones. And for those experiencing addiction, they can be the difference between relapse and lasting recovery.

“Sometimes navigating the mental health world can be a nightmare, [but Sandstone] is a very welcoming and easy environment.” – Nick

When Nick and his partner Alex arrived at Sandstone, they knew this was going to be different than any treatment they’d experienced before. During their time with us, they learned how to navigate Nick’s diagnosis, advocate for his mental health, and strengthen their relationship through family therapy.

But don’t take our word for it: Listen to Nick and Alex’s shared experience of Sandstone’s outpatient center.

Our Program Options

Our Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) offer structured care for teens and young adults struggling with various mental health challenges.

Our PHP involves visiting the center for 25 hours a week. This level of care is suitable for you if you require more immediate intervention for things like severe depression, anxiety, or acute psychiatric symptoms.

When enrolled in our IOP, you will attend treatment for just 16 hours per week. This program provides ongoing therapy and support while allowing you to maintain their daily routines and responsibilities. It is right for you if you need ongoing support with a lower level of supervision.

The mental health program may be appropriate for someone who is using substances to cope with their mental health issues. If substance abuse continues to be the primary issue being addressed, then our Buffalo Grove substance use disorder (SUD) program may be a better fit. Our comprehensive and hands-on case management means that you will get the best care anywhere on the map.

We offer intimate, small groups that prioritize a well-balanced recovery approach. Our focus is on utilizing various psychotherapy techniques, including weekly multifamily sessions and academic/vocational skill building twice a week. These groups are led by licensed clinicians and medical providers who are available for medication management and collaborate regularly with each clinician.

Our clinical groups consist of skills-based programs, emphasizing the use of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). We also provide person-centered process groups designed for individuals dealing with mental health challenges such as depression, OCD, anxiety, suicidal ideation, and past trauma. Please note that we do not treat eating disorders.

Family plays a vital role in the overall wellness of each individual served. Individual family sessions are offered bi-weekly to examine the role the family plays in creating new patterns of behavioral health and changing old behavior that reinforced negative behaviors. Connection is key in recovery. Our program also utilizes weekly family therapy group to strengthen new skills being learned in groups, as well as a source of support and guidance.
