An Outpatient Center With Heart

“Sometimes navigating the mental health world can be a nightmare, [but Sandstone] is a very welcoming and easy environment.” – Nick

When Nick and his partner Alex arrived at Sandstone, they knew this was going to be different than any treatment they’d experienced before. During their time with us, they learned how to navigate Nick’s diagnosis, advocate for his mental health, and strengthen their relationship through family therapy.

But don’t take our word for it: Listen to Nick and Alex’s shared experience of Sandstone’s outpatient center.

Not only was the group supportive, but the support from the staff was amazing.

I initially came to Sandstone for IOP and it helped me get through a really though time in my life. I ended up staying through OP and I would recommend it to anyone that needs support with their mental health.

Partial-Hospitalization vs. Intensive Outpatient Treatment

Sandstone Care offers both a partial-hospitalization program (PHP) and intensive outpatient program (IOP) in Boulder, CO. So what’s the difference?

Partial Hospitalization Programming (PHP)

PHP patients visit our mental health rehab center 5 days a week for 4-5 hours of treatment at a time. Treatments include individual and group therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and family therapy. PHP provides the intensive support that individuals need after they exit detox or a Residential Treatment Center.

Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP)

Teens and young adults enrolled in IOP in Boulder participate in treatment 3-4 days a week for a few hours a day. Individuals often step down from PHP into IOP. This programming also allows you to continue regularly attending school, extracurriculars, or work.
