Alcohol

The transition between recreational alcohol use and alcohol dependence can be a subtle one. But if you’re finding that you can’t stop drinking when you want to, you may have alcohol dependence.

Marijuana

Similar to alcohol use, smoking or ingesting marijuana has become normalized as a way to relax or take the edge off. When overused, it can make you feel unable to cope with life without using.

Stimulants

A stimulant is any drug that increases your central nervous system activity. Stimulants are used to heighten attention, hyperactivity, and alertness. Abuse of these drugs can lead to a variety of health problems.

Opioids

Opioids are a class of drugs that include synthetic opioids, pain killers, and the illegal drug heroin. These drugs, including prescription medications, are highly addictive.

Choosing Sobriety and Accountability

“My life has improved in every aspect, I think because I’m not relying on something that could be so detrimental to me just to feel like myself… I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m still growing and I don’t have all the answers. And I’m okay with that.”

Making the choice to undergo addiction treatment can feel intimidating, but with Sandstone Care by your side you’ll find support every moment of your journey. Watch the inspiring story of Nico, a former client who embraced sobriety and took action to change his life for the better.

Our incredible staff of counselors and therapists are ready to welcome you into our community. Call us today to learn more about our Alexandria drug treatment program and schedule a visit to our beautiful facility.

You Have Options: IOP & PHP

At our outpatient rehab in Alexandria, VA, we provide both partial hospitalization programs (PHP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) tailored to your unique addiction recovery needs as a teen or young adult.

If you choose PHP, you’ll visit our rehab facility 3-4 times each week for several hours of treatment per visit. This program is designed for individuals like you who can benefit from receiving care on a more frequent basis.

Alternatively, if you opt for our IOP, you’ll come to our center for treatment interventions 1-2 times per week. This option allows you and your family to maintain your regular schedule while ensuring you receive the top-notch care and support you need.

Support for the Whole Family

We encourage active family participation in the recovery process. Since patients live at home during our programs, it’s vital for every family member to understand how to support their teen’s addiction recovery.

In Alexandria, our treatment center offers bi-weekly family therapy sessions. These sessions help families express support, learn communication and boundary-setting skills, and address underlying issues crucial for long-term recovery.

Our Clients Experience Reduced Levels of Anxiety and Depression

At Sandstone Care, we know disorders like anxiety and depression can have a profound impact on one’s ability to enjoy life. That’s why our treatment programming addresses both addiction and mental health challenges.

In a recent study of people who completed treatment with us, the group reported a 57% decrease in anxiety symptoms. The same group also experienced a 78% decrease in symptoms of depression.

These are life changing numbers for our alumni. And for those experiencing addiction, they can be the difference between relapse and lasting recovery.

If you experience withdrawal symptoms when you try to stop substance use, this is usually a sign of dependency or addiction. For those experiencing alcohol or drug addiction, addiction therapy can be beneficial.

Here at Sandstone Care, we specialize in developing diverse addiction treatment programs that cater to a variety of situations. However, the most effective way to determine if outpatient treatment is the right path for you is to consult with a healthcare professional.

Our dedicated admissions team is always available for a conversation. They can provide advice, inform you about our treatment programs, and guide you to your next steps.

No matter what your short-term or long-term goals are, don’t hesitate to reach out – we’re here to help clarify your treatment options and navigate your journey toward recovery. Whether you need inpatient treatment, residential treatment, or outpatient services, we would be happy to speak with you and advise you on your next steps.

Every person that Sandstone Care treats are different. While some outpatient rehabilitation centers are one-size-fits-all, our recovery center tailors treatment plans to meet our client’s specific needs. For example, adolescent patients may require different treatment services than young adults.

The average length of treatment is 2 – 12 weeks. Some of the factors that impact the length of treatment are:

  • What substances the client is in addiction recovery from (for example, alcohol addiction)
  • How long the client has been drinking or using drugs
  • The frequency that the client has been drinking or using drugs
  • If the client would benefit from behavioral therapy
  • Overall physical and mental health of the client
  • If medication management will be necessary for drug abuse detoxification
  • Underlying health conditions or mental health issues

Once your substance abuse treatment programming is complete, our Discharge Planners will sit with you for an evaluation to discuss your aftercare options.

Yes! Please contact our admissions team to complete an Insurance Verification to see if we accept your health insurance. If we do not, we may be able to provide you with referrals to find treatment, even if it’s not with us. Please note that we do not accept Medicare or Medicaid.

Yes. Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is proven to be effective in treating substance use disorders, especially in combination with evidence-based therapy and counseling. Our personalized programming is designed to learn your needs and goals so we can choose the best course of treatment for your specific challenges. By offering medically-supervised withdrawal from substances, we help our clients recover quickly and safely from drug or alcohol use.

We also recognize that not all situations call for MAT. Our medical team will evaluate your circumstances and determine what type of treatment is appropriate for you. Learn more about Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) here.

Loved ones play a vital role in the overall wellness of each individual served. Individual family therapy sessions are offered bi-weekly to examine the role the family plays in creating new patterns of behavioral health and changing old behavior that reinforced negative behaviors.

Connection is key in recovery. Our case management team will work with you and your family to find the best way to foster that connection. Our program also utilizes weekly Multi-Family psychotherapy groups to reinforce new skills being learned in groups, as well as a source of support and guidance during the rehabilitative care process.
