Addiction Treatment That Works

If you struggle with addiction, you know firsthand how strong its gravity can be. No matter how hard you try to be a good friend, parent, employee, or partner – substance use drags you out towards rock bottom again.

Changing the direction of your life is a deeply personal process, and your treatment plan should reflect that. We listen closely to your unique situation so that you have a personalized recovery plan that helps you heal your relationship with yourself and those you love.

Instead of just covering up your symptoms in a one-size-fits-all program, we work with you to uncover the root causes of your addiction and give you practical skills that can help you address triggers long after you leave Sandstone Care.

Our Clients Experience Reduced Levels of Anxiety and Depression

At Sandstone Care, we know disorders like anxiety and depression can have a profound impact on one’s ability to enjoy life. That’s why our residential treatment programming addresses both addiction and mental health challenges.

In a recent study of people who completed treatment with us, the group reported a 57% decrease in anxiety symptoms. The same group also experienced a 78% decrease in symptoms of depression.

These are life changing numbers for our alumni. And for those experiencing addiction, they can be the difference between relapse and lasting recovery.

Assessments & Evaluations

The first 48 hours of detox are crucial, and your comfort and safety during that stage is our highest priority. Once you are stabilized, we will then complete a full medical, psychiatric, and psychological assessment.

These evaluations give us a clear picture of how we can help you in your recovery journey, allowing us to tailor a treatment plan to your unique needs. The assessment process covers the following topics:

Physical Health

In addition to an initial evaluation with our Nurse Practitioner, you will be assessed every four hours by a member of our nursing team. This nursing assessment includes checking vital signs, monitoring withdrawal symptoms, and administering medications as needed.

SUD Evaluation

You will have an initial evaluation of your substance use disorder to make sure that your treatment team has all of the information they need to take care of you in the best way possible.

This information will be gathered again later during the biopsychosocial assessment, which is completed by a therapist or certified addiction counselor.

Mental Health Evaluation

Each day, you will have a one-on-one check in with a therapist or counselor to evaluate your mental and emotional status, as well as any symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD, or any other mental health disorders you may be struggling with.

Family History

During the biopsychosocial assessment, you are asked to provide in-depth information about the history of family medical, mental health, and substance use disorders to help inform medical and clinical recommendations and treatment planning.

Psychiatric Evaluation

You will meet with our psychiatric nurse practitioner for an initial evaluation of your mental health and psychiatric status. This evaluation will determine whether or not psychiatric medications would be useful in the management of any symptoms and diagnoses.

Medication Management

It’s important for the medical and clinical staff to know what medications you have been on in the past. If medications are prescribed by the medical team at Colorado Springs Detox Center, regular assessments of medication effectiveness will be completed in order to ensure we are providing the best and most effective care possible.

Discharge Planning Assessment

The discharge planning team works with you individually to build a discharge plan that is unique to you. Depending on your specific needs, they may be given referrals for residential, extended care, or outpatient programs for ongoing aftercare support.

Benefits of Evidence-Based Therapy

Evidence-based therapies (EBTs) use treatment modalities that have been proven effective through scientific research. They include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and more.

These modalities provide real, life-changing results that can help you get your life back on track.

Some additional benefits include:

Lasting Results

The American Psychological Association created the policies for EBTs using the best research available. Studies have shown that these therapy treatments lead to longer-lasting results.

Cost Effective

Since these kinds of treatments are scientifically proven to be more effective, the chances of relapse are less likely, which means less money spent on future treatments.

More Accountability for Therapists

EBTs require specialized training in the different kinds of therapies, which means you are guaranteed that qualified, verified therapists are in charge of your care.

Clinically Effective

EBTs are safe and proven treatments, so you can feel confident that your recovery is not left up to chance. Your mental health assessments and preferences will determine which EBTs are used in your treatment plans.

Co Occurring Disorders
Co-occurring Mental Health Disorder Treatment Explained

Treating Co-Occurring Mental Health Conditions

We understand that there’s often overlap in symptoms between drug use and mental health disorders (also called “co-occurring disorders”). That’s why we also specialize in mental health treatments, providing a dual-diagnosis approach.

If you suffer from mental illness, it is very important to treat your condition alongside substance use disorder, because symptoms of mental health disorders often make addiction recovery more difficult.

Our staff is trained to identify and treat co-occuring mental health conditions. In treatment, you’ll address these issues and learn healthier coping skills so you can have the best chance at lasting recovery.

FAQS

Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers.

Check out our selection of frequently asked questions — or call us to ask us today.

Coming in for a substance use treatment assessment is your first step towards a clearer path to recovery. Our assessments give us a better understanding of your needs, allowing us to create a comprehensive treatment plan that addresses your specific challenges.

No, we do not currently provide an intensive outpatient program (IOP) or partial hospitalization program (PHP) for adults (30+). We do offer these programs at Sandstone Care, however, these programs cater to young adults and adolescents. Detox is our only level of care for adults at this time.

If you experience withdrawal symptoms when you attempt to discontinue use, it is more than likely that you are suffering from drug addiction. In this case, you would benefit from the detox level of care at one of our inpatient addiction treatment centers.

However, the best way to know whether or not you would benefit from medical detox is to get a professional opinion. Our trained admissions team would be happy to speak with you and advise you on our treatment services and your next steps.

The average length of stay is 5-14 days. Some of the factors that impact length of stay are:

  • Which substances you are detoxing from
  • How long you have been suffering from drug abuse
  • The frequency with which you have been drinking or using drugs
  • Your overall physical and mental wellness
  • Underlying medical conditions

When you arrive to the Sandstone Care Detox & Inpatient Center, you will be greeted at the door by one of our staff members. A nurse and behavioral health technician will guide you through the admission and intake process which includes several assessments and initial evaluations. Then you will be shown to your bedroom and given some time to settle in before meeting other staff and clients in the facility and attending your first group counseling session.

Yes, we do utilize medication-assisted treatment at Sandstone Care. When you arrive at our facility, you will first be evaluated by our medical team. They will assess your situation and determine which prescription drugs will be used to make your detox safe and comfortable.

Please note that Sandstone Care’s Detox locations are not methadone clinics.

No, family members will not allowed in the detox facility during your treatment, and we do not provide family therapy at the detox level of care. However, family members and friends are welcome to call our Detox Center to receive an update about their loved one.

During your stay at Sandstone Care Detox Center, clients will have access to their personal cell phones. However, clients will not have access to their personal laptops. These will be kept in our secure storage area for the duration of your stay.

No. We believe in starting with many privileges and only revoking access if necessary, meaning if electronics are being used in a way that harms yourself or others.
