It can be difficult to know if you are making the right treatment choices. We want to address any questions you have that may be holding you back from finally changing your life. If you don’t find the answers to your questions below, then give us a call. Our admissions counselors are standing by; they will get to know you and your specific situation and connect you to the help you need – even if it isn’t with us.

No one should have to delay their healing because of their circumstances, and that’s why our intensive outpatient programs (IOP) can be completed after your work or school responsibilities. These programs provide the support you need without forcing you to take a break from your daily commitments.

Our day treatment programs also include academic and vocational support from licensed teachers that can help you to not only keep your head above water, but actually start to excel in your school and work responsibilities.

It is also important to remember that mental health conditions don’t listen to our schedules. If it is left untreated, it can cause significant disruptions in your academic and professional life that last far longer than the time you would take away for treatment. Focusing on your health now will help you to have the control and energy you need to excel in your academic and vocational goals in the future.

Seeking treatment doesn’t have to be a burden; in fact, it can actively lift the burdens your family is already carrying. Mental health issues are often shared in the family, by taking steps towards recovery, you’re not only helping yourself but also aiding them in the healing process.

Involving your family in treatment can strengthen relationships and equip them with the skills to navigate their own emotional challenges. We offer support groups and family therapy to ensure everyone is taken care of. You cannot take this journey alone, and your willingness to seek help is often the crucial first step in breaking cycles of generational pain within your family.

The journey towards mental health isn’t always linear, and setbacks can be disheartening. If you’ve encountered challenges in your mental health journey, that does not make you a failure. Mental health struggles can be relentless, and seeking additional support doesn’t indicate weakness.

At our Tinley Park mental health center, we exclusively employ evidence-based approaches with proven effectiveness. Through a combination of therapeutic modalities such as CBT and DBT, experiential therapies, and academic/vocational planning, we delve into the underlying causes of mental health challenges and provide you with strategies to navigate life beyond these struggles.

Rest assured, these methods are grounded in scientific research, ensuring that your path to mental well-being is guided by evidence rather than chance.

From Chaos To Community

“As someone who has spent all of my life – up until the complete breakdown – ignoring my mental health, there’s no time like the present to start working on yourself.”

When Nick came to Sandstone, he’d been in and out of IOP and PHP treatment programs in another state. Coming to Sandstone’s Illinois mental health facility was his final “Hail Mary,” and he hoped it would help him heal his mental health for good.

What he got was just that, and so much more. Listen to Nick’s inspiring story of how the program helped him understand his diagnosis, develop compassion for himself, and build a community of friends and mentors who genuinely cared.

Yes. Substance use is often a symptom of a deeper mental health struggle or challenge, which is why our programming addresses both problems simultaneously. By getting to the root cause of the issue, we can help our clients reach longer-lasting and more sustainable recovery results.

Research consistently demonstrates that age-specific mental health programs, like the one offered at Sandstone Care, are more effective and lead to longer-lasting positive outcomes. The key factor is tailoring the treatment to what matters most to you.

When mental health care is customized to your specific age group, it becomes more relevant and resonant with your life experiences, challenges, and developmental needs. This personalized approach addresses issues in a way that directly connects with your reality, making the interventions more impactful.

Studies indicate that this alignment with personal context increases engagement and commitment to the treatment process. When the care is based on what matters to you, it is more likely to be effective in producing positive, lasting changes in your mental health and well-being. The individualized focus ensures that the strategies and support provided align with your unique circumstances, leading to more meaningful and enduring results.

No. Sandstone Care’s Tinley Park Mental Health Center is not the same center as the old Tinley Park Mental Health Center, nor is it located on the same property.

The old center’s property is roughly bound by 183rd Street, Harlem Avenue, 175th Street and 80th Avenue, while our Sandstone Care Tinley Park Mental Health Center is located at 16325 S Harlem Ave., Suite #260.

Wondering what happened to the old Tinley Park Mental Health Center?

The former mental health center property, with its rich history, has seen significant changes. Initially serving as a mental health facility owned by the state of Illinois, it played a vital role in the community before its closure.

After years of disuse, the center became abandoned, with its buildings falling into disrepair. While Village officials of the Village of Tinley Park initially offered to pay $4.5 million for the sate, recent breaking news reports that Gov. JB Pritzker approved the sale of the land to the Tinley Park Park District for a nominal $1 fee.

“We need [that land] in our community to help build a foundation for our families and all of our residents.” says Lisa O’Donovan, Tinley Park Park District commissioner. “We want to expand the opportunities for our seniors, our families, all of that.”

For taxpayers, it’s like Christmas came early. And it’s even better news for local community members who have long been calling for a clean-up of the “eyesore” that the former mental health center property had become.

Now, plans are underway to repurpose the 280-acre site into a sports complex, signaling a new era for the area. Fox32 reports that the complex will house a stadium with a track, a playground/splash pad, a full-size soccer field covered by a dome, and more.

However, before any construction and redevelopment begins, the site of the former mental health center requires thorough environmental cleanup and remediation due to accumulated contaminants such as asbestos.

As the community works towards revitalizing this historic landmark and creating new athletic fields and sports facilities, Sandstone Care is thrilled to contribute by providing mental health services to the local community. We’ll continue to provide any trending updates on the situation here.
